Leonardo DiCaprio Will Star as Cult Leader Jim Jones In Biopic

Jim Jones Movie Leo DiCaprio

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, was the last time we saw Leonardo DiCaprio in a theatrically released feature picture. Despite the fact that the film’s main plot revolved around a friendship between a cowboy TV celebrity and his stuntman best buddy (Brad Pitt), the cult lead by Charles Manson was heavily featured in the film’s B plot DiCaprio is currently in final discussions with MGM to feature in the 1970s-set historical film Jim Jones, which is likewise about a real-life cult leader responsible for multiple fatalities. In Guyana, South America, James Warren Jones assembled his followers into a community known as Jonestown, where he finally staged the mass suicide of over 900 members (and the murders of others). Jim Jones will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production firm.

Jim Jones does not yet have a director, but it does have a screenwriter in Scott Rosenberg, who has written the two most recent Jumanji films as well as the Marvel Comics adaption Venom. DiCaprio can be seen in Netflix’s Don’t Look Up (12/24/2021) and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon (10/14/2022) before Jim Jones.
