Within just four days of its release, the series broke streaming records with 68 million views, surpassing the previous record held by Wednesday Season 1, which garnered 50.1 million views during its premiere week. Netflix reported that Squid Game 2 ranked No. 1 in 92 countries, solidifying its status as a global phenomenon. Critics praised the season for its gripping narrative, intense character arcs, and bold expansion of the series’ dark universe.
The momentum didn’t stop there. Netflix followed up with a third and final season, filmed back-to-back with Season 2, which officially premiered on June 27, 2025, bringing the high-stakes saga to a dramatic close.
