Here at BOC we like Nick Cage. What is he up to? According to a recent story from Deadline, Nicolas Cage is preparing to play Dracula in Universal’s next picture Renfield.

Nicholas Hoult will play Renfield, Dracula’s well-known henchman, in the film. Renfield will be directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War), with a script written by Robert Kirkman, co-creator of The Walking Dead, Invincible, and numerous other Image Comics titles. R.M. Renfield was a servant of Dracula who was presented as an inmate at a mental asylum in the Original Dracula novel.

Initially suspected of having delusions, it is subsequently discovered that he is under Dracula’s influence. It’s unknown how much of the original source material will be used in the upcoming film, but Deadline reports that it will be set in the “present day,” rather than being a period piece.
