The global box office for Spider-Man: No Way Home has surpassed $1.69 billion, making it the sixth highest grossing film of all time.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has become the sixth highest grossing movie of all time at the box office. The film, which stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man, is the third episode in the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy and the character’s sixth appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland’s Spider-Man was last seen in a mid-credits cameo in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and his last major part was in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the third and final installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3.
With a legal ownership struggle between Marvel Studios and Sony, the Spider-Man franchise has been riddled with complexity and off-screen challenges for years. In the span of 14 years, three different actors have played the lead role in the franchise. Tobey Maguire’s live-action debut Spider-Man was released in 2002 and was followed by two sequels until Andrew Garfield took over as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Holland was eventually cast in another reboot, and made his MCU debut as Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, with his most recent appearance as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home being his sixth (including a cameo).
